ISA
If your aim is to invest on a monthly basis over a short term, say £50 per month over three-five years, then an ISA is probably the best option for you. Interest on ISAs is paid tax-free.
Alternatively if you want to save on the same basis and enjoy the thrill of a lottery, then perhaps Premium Bonds could be for you. Both ISAs and Premium Bonds are perfect tools for squirrelling money away each month.
The independent financial advisors we work with will be able to give you access to the best ISA rates on the market and inform you of the best avenue for you to take, whether fixed-rate or easy-access.
Larger sums of money, for example £10,000 and upwards, make for a more considered investment. Stock markets should be investigated, both UK and overseas. Investing lump sums is best done over a long time period, say 10 years minimum. But be prepared for falls in stock markets and monetary losses. Of course markets can always pick up again and you can find yourself with a healthy interest. But that’s the nature of investing.
